![]() You can have it teach you almost anything. You can ask it to create a story about a frog falling in love with a turtle and it will make something I could read to my daughter (link to Pat Loller's video about that below). It can *know* what something is, discuss it, and even create variations of what it knows. We've embedded in it the patterns and knowledge of our society, culture, our human-ness. I think ChatGPT is something very similar to this idea. I steal this concept from the delightful Peter Watt's novel "Blindsight" in which (minor spoiler) the aliens they meet are deeply intelligence, but not conscious in any way we would understand. And when discussing ChatGPT and similar AIs, I think it's important to separate the two. ![]() Intelligence and Consciousness aren't the same thing. ![]()
